Organic Fruit Trees Plants

No guide to organic herb gardens would be complete without some advice on using herbs as natural pest and disease repellents in a vegetable or flower garden. Chemical free gardening is easily achieved by the judicious use of certain herbs because they can keep your garden bug free and reduce or eliminate the need for potentially harmful pesticides. For example, Chamomile works to improve the flavor of cabbages and onions while Dill is good for growth and health of cabbage, but you must not put it near carrots. Hyssop is another companion plant for cabbage because it will deter cabbage moths, but is also good with grapes, but please do not put anywhere near radishes. Both Mint and Peppermint also deter white cabbage moths and improve the health of cabbage.
This process is known as companion gardening, or companion planting. Those gardeners who are keen to adopt an organic approach to their vegetable and flower growing are now able to discover that they can discourage garden pests without using all those chemical products that harm the beneficial insects such as bees and ladybugs and which in progressing up the food chain have devastating effects on bird life. You can use BASIL to improve growth and flavor of tomatoes as well as repelling insect pests; also Borage is not only an excellent companion plant for tomatoes, but for squash and strawberries as well.
Some herbs, because of their smells or secretions, will deter pests naturally, so planted generally around the garden will sit there doing their work with no effort from you the gardener. Try planting Garlic in your rose garden - it will repel aphids. Remember the song "Lonely little petunia"? Not only good in the onion patch, Petunia they repel the asparagus beetle, tomato worm and most general garden pests so plant everywhere. Horseradish is excellent in a potato patch for deterring potato bugs but be careful it is a vigorous spreading plant and will take over if not contained. Tansy should be planted under fruit trees, and around roses and raspberries to deter flying insects and ants. Marigold (Calendula) also will keep soil free of many insects. Plant it everywhere.
Herbs, planted as neighbors - companions - to certain other plants will actually improve the flavor or growth rate, or even both, of their companion fruit and vegetables. Chervil is good with radishes for improved growth and flavor while Chives will improve growth and flavor of carrots. Lovage because of its high nitrogen content will improve flavor and health of most plants. Marjoram is an excellent work horse improving the flavor in all vegetables while Nasturtiam should be planted around tomatoes, radishes, cabbage, cucumbers, and under fruit trees. Parsley will improve asparagus, Savory as a companion to beans and onions will improve growth and flavor. Companion planted flowering plants will benefit and produce bigger, better and bug free blooms.
Because this is just a short guide not a complete expose it is not possible to give a list of all the different companion plants in all situations in all countries but mentioned above are the most common ones. Just do your best to match the suitable herb with the suitable plant and all the benefits described above will be naturally yours. One last thing: are you bothered by your neighbourhood rampant moggy? Wormwood planted along your borders will discourage any animals from invading your yard.
